As a first time mommy, I had no knowledge into what products would really make my life easier. A week into motherhood and I now know the boppy pillow is a godsend, especially for breastfeeding mommies. Pillows are useful but they aren’t manueverable enough, nor do they provide me with the height I require to position the baby into the magical latch position. The latch is important to prevent an angry baby and sore nipples. The boppy accomplishes this by providing the ability to position baby with both hands and and more. It was not love at first sight; I initially scoffed at the boppy pillow during a run to Target. I thought it was overpriced and I could accomplish the same breastfeeding positions with pillows and contorting my body. Wrong, wrong, wrong. When it’s 3 am and your body is screaming for sleep along with your hungry child, the boppy makes it all a little better. It curves tightly around your waist and stays in place while you pick up baby and adjust him into the correct position. I am pretty petite at 5-4 and 115 and I have no issue keeping the boppy pillow in place on my body. I have not used the pillow for other uses such as cradling baby. My child is smaller than average (under 6 lbs.) and he would fall into the boppy pillow hole. As for use, the boppy pillow assists me at least 10 times a day. The pillowcase is machine washable. I give the boppy 4 out of 5 stars. I still think it is expensive for what it is, but you can’t put a price on a few extra minutes of time and comfort.
